I have been doing some writing, most of it is longer pieces that won’t be posted until complete but there are some shorter pieces that I’d forgotten about until I started looking at my WiP folder and realized that a few of them were done and just hadn’t been moved.
And wow, run on sentence from hell.

First Kisses
His first, first kiss was when he was ten.
Becky Ann Daniels had run up to him on the playground during recess and surprised him with a peck on his lips.
She’d then turned bright red and run away giggling.
He’d stared after her, shook his head and got back in line for his turn on the monkey bars.
She’d been his girlfriend for two weeks before Ryan Sumner had stolen her from him with promises of ice cream sandwiches for dessert at lunch time.
******************************************************************************
Sara Jameson had been his girlfriend for six weeks before they’d kissed the first time. He’d been seventeen and she’d been sixteen and he’d been in love.
They’d taken things slow because Sara had been sheltered, the youngest child with four older brothers and he didn’t remember the older brothers fondly.
Not after they’d cornered him when he’d first asked Sara out and warned him that if he ever hurt her his body would never be found.
They were big, hulking brutes and he’d been a little scared. More then a little, it was why it had taken six weeks for him to work up the nerve to kiss her.
He couldn’t very well do that when he continually was looking over his shoulder and seeing at least one of the brothers staring at them with narrowed eyes, cracking knuckles in a threatening manner.
She’d kissed him, hands soft on his chin and it was sweet and innocent.
A year later they would break up because she was sleeping with the captain of the debate club and editor of the school newspaper wasn’t good enough for her. The brothers didn’t kill him because he’d been the wronged party.
Although it still took him a month after the breakup to stop waiting for it to happen.
******************************************************************************
His first kiss with a guy was with Mark Wilson, they’d been drunk and stoned and their girlfriends had dared them.
Which was probably why they’d thought it a good idea. Drunk and stoned, standing a the edge of Clifford house and flapping their arms like birds so they could get enough momentum going to fly had also seemed like a good idea.
He’d fallen into the kiss and it had surprised him that Mark had been a gentle kisser. Richard had felt soft and pliant and a little bit turned on when Mark had pulled away. Pupils blown, lips red and moist and Richard had licked his lips and leaned forward because he wanted to kiss him again. To be kissed by him again.
Mark had smiled at him, pushed him away and he’d heard the girls giggling off to the side. Making mock kissing noises and Richard had turned bright red, fell onto his back and didn’t refuse when Mark pushed the joint back into his hand.
Six weeks later Mark would give him his first blowjob, eight weeks later they would fuck for the first time. Three months later Mark would tell him that he was ending it and four months later Richard would stand up as best man for Mark and his four months pregnant girlfriend as they got married.
He swore off men altogether and wondered if it was a bad sign that the last two people he’d dated had cheated on him.
******************************************************************************
The first time they’d kissed, Lois had kissed him and Richard had felt like she was trying to prove a point.
He hadn’t known about Superman and Lois right then, she’d just been this pretty, vivacious young woman that his uncle raved about and he’d thought that maybe she was trying to get back at an ex-boyfriend.
He hadn’t known the ex-boyfriend was Superman, and that he wasn’t even on the planet. If he had he might have handled things differently, being the rebound boyfriend was never a good thing and normally ended disastrously.
******************************************************************************
He wasn’t sure when he began thinking in terms of when Lois left him and not if Lois left him.
Maybe it had been when Superman returned and Lois disappeared with flimsy excuses.
Maybe it had been when his fiancé seemed intent on falling off every building in Metropolis to get Superman’s attention.
It has seemed inevitable suddenly and Richard wondered why he always got to be the one that was left instead of the one leaving.
He’d taken to spending an inordinate amount of time with Clark. Usually because Lois would leave Clark high and dry while she went chasing down Superman leads, leaving her ‘partner’ with a half-written story and research and fact finding galore that needed to be done
Clark was a better man then him, as much as he adored Lois he would have made complaints to Perry at some point but Clark just seemed to sigh and push his glasses up further on his nose and then sigh again.
Richard helped him with the fact finding and the research and Jimmy could be counted on to come along and be cheerful and supply whatever pictures were needed.
He’d thought for years that Jimmy and Clark had been involved, especially the way Jimmy talked about him. Jimmy had put those thoughts to rest even before Clark had come back. Just laughed when Richard had asked him and said that he thought that Clark’d had a crush on Lois.
The crush seemed to be gone now, when he looked at Clark and saw him watching Lois as she went on and on about Superman, all he saw was a mixture of exasperation and fondness.
He’d almost offered up their spare bedroom a couple of times when Clark was still looking for a place to live, but then there’d been a series of progressively erotic dreams starring the spare bedroom, Clark and himself and he’d thought that might be a bad idea.
Lois hadn’t left him for Superman yet and having Clark under his roof was a temptation that he didn’t think he was strong enough to resist for long periods of time.
Luckily Clark found an apartment, moved in and Richard took to spending time over there. Usually with Jason when Lois was out working on a story.
******************************************************************************
His first kiss with Clark was an accident. A complete and utter accident, so he didn’t count it as a first kiss.
His relationship with Lois was in its death throes and neither one of them wanted to be the one to break it off.
Lois didn’t because every one expected her to leave him for Superman and it was actually even odds in Vegas.
Richard didn’t because everyone expected him to be jealous and dump her, or the good guy and let her go so she could go back to Superman.
He’d actually got letters to that effect and he’d wanted to write a letter to the editor saying that if Lois wanted to leave him she could but seeing as how she hadn’t could everyone just move on?
He hadn’t, his uncle had talked him out of it and Clark had laughed at him when he’d mentioned the desire.
Richard kissed him because Clark had been flushed and laughing and it seemed the right thing to do.
******************************************************************************
The first time he kissed Clark and meant it Lois had already left him. She’d been gone for two months with phone calls coming less and less frequently.
Clark had taken to hanging out with him and Richard didn’t want to think that maybe Clark was feeling pity for him.
A single dad, raising a boy that may or may not be his, who was sometimes so scarily intelligent that he scared Richard.
Clark spent entire days and nights with them, sometimes crashing on their sofa, sometimes in the spare bedroom if he made it that far.
The first time he’d kissed Clark and meant to do it, Lois had called him two hours prior and they’d made small talk that had made his heart ache for what could have been and she’d told him that it might be best if when she came back to town if she stayed someplace else.
He didn’t want to think that he was needy when Clark had shown up but he’d thought Lois was going to be his happy ending and now she was out tracking an alien that seemed to be everywhere that she wasn’t.
He’d kissed Clark because the man had stood there in his kitchen and listened to Richard give him a play by play re-enactment of his phone call with Lois and the first words out of his mouth were.
“Everyone always wants what they can’t have, I’ve never understood that.”
He’d kissed him because Clark was staring at him with eyes that said, unless Richard was totally misreading him, that Clark was something he wanted and thought he couldn’t have.
Which was just wrong, because Richard had the fantasies to prove it. And once Jason was put to bed on the other side of the house he would show each and every one of them to Clark.
