I’m so happy to have finished something! And as a present for the three/four of you that have been reading this all along what do you want to see in the ficlets? I have three that are planned but maybe they’ll coincide. Psychics!

Read part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5 & part 6 first.

Summary: Psychics were few and far between. For every one there was at least 150 trained Constants (that wasn’t counting the untrained Constants that could sometimes sneak in and lure a Psychic away).

TITLE: Constants
PAIRING: Ryan/Bob, Pete/Patrick, Gerard/Frank, Mikey/Brendon, Cash/Alex
AUTHOR: Melanie
SUMMARY: Psychics were few and far between. For every one there was at least 150 trained Constants (that wasn’t counting the untrained Constants that could sometimes sneak in and lure a Psychic away).
DISCLAIMER: I don’t own any of these boys and I’m pretty sure that this has never happened.

Constants 7/8

The day that Ryan and Bob made love for the first time was also the day that William Beckett woke up in the morning and didn’t ask for his Constant first thing.

They were not related, those two things, except for the fact that they happened on the same day.

Bob had been calling it sex in his head, when it finally happened it was that plus a whole lot more.

Bob had been incredibly patient. He didn’t want Ryan to sleep with him because he thought he should be or because he thought he owed Bob something. He wanted Ryan to sleep with him because he wanted to, because he wanted him.

He’d made the decision early on, that if all he ever got was Ryan sleeping soundly, peacefully next to him, then he’d deal with it and take advantage of the fact that cold water was unlimited.

He wanted more but he’d pretty much resigned himself to the fact that he might never get that.

He woke one morning and Ryan was already awake, that happened more mornings then not. Ryan didn’t sleep more then a couple of hours a night, none of the Psychics did. Spencer had mentioned something once about insomnia. Bob thought it more along the lines that Ryan (and the others) didn’t shield fully while he was sleeping and maybe the outside noises were a little too loud.

He never moved from the bed though, he didn’t leave Bob to wake alone.

That morning Ryan was sitting cross-legged beside him, touching him, fingers gentle on his face, staring intently at him; Bob looked up at him and tried to figure out what the expression on Ryan’s face was.

It wasn’t one that Bob had seen before.

“Do you not want me?” Ryan asked, his voice was soft, quiet. Bob didn’t think he imagined the slight tremble in it.

Alex and Cash were one room over and even though there were two beds in the room Bob knew that if he peeked his head in they would be wound around each other in Alex’s, even though Bob had expressly forbade it.

“Not want you?” Bob asked, his voice was still sleep rough and his mind was still lost in the remnants of whatever he’d been dreaming before waking.

There’d been a beach involved he thought. Ryan and him lying on their backs on the sand, Bob could still feel the heat of the sun or maybe that was just Ryan, he put off heat like a little furnace.

“You don’t… if you don’t want me, if you want something else,” Ryan started; he bit his lip and looked uncertain but determined.

“You think that…” Bob looked at him. “You’re supposed to be psychic Ryan, how can you think that I don’t want you.”

“I’m not going to look,” Ryan said. He sounded scandalized. Like he couldn’t believe that Bob thought that he would just poke around in his head until he found what he’d been looking for. Even though Bob had given him free reign to do so by leaving no walls up between them in the first place.

“And I’m not going to push you for something you’re not ready to give me yet,” Bob said simply, it was too early to be having this conversation.

“So you do want me?” Ryan bit his lip, he managed to look younger then any of the baby!Psychics had ever thought of being when he did that.

Bob looked at him, he hoped that his disbelief at the stupidity of the thought that he wouldn’t want Ryan was conveyed clearly enough for Ryan to see it.

“I don’t…” Ryan waved the hand that wasn’t touching him in the air. “I’ve never done this before you know; I don’t know what I’m supposed to do.”

Bob reached out and linked his fingers together with the hand that wasn’t already touching him, pulling until Ryan sprawled over him.

Both Ryan’s, the one warm in his arms and the one that lived in his head, blinked at him and smiled shyly, both of them flushed a really pretty shade of pink and Bob grinned at him.

“Good morning,” he said, he cupped Ryan’s face in his hands, drew him closer and closer until he could press gentle kisses to Ryan’s lips. Again and again until Ryan’s lips yielded under his and parted on a sigh.

Bob stroked his hands down Ryan’s back until they settled on slim hips.

He felt Ryan shudder, felt him go completely pliant against him and hooked his fingers in the waistband of Ryan’s boxers and tugged them slowly down.

He held him tight, held him safe and secure and breathed mine into every kiss and showed him with every touch just how very much he was wanted.

Cash smirked at them, Alex blushed and wouldn’t meet his eyes, Ryan blushed and concentrated on carefully pouring his coffee.

Bob thought it would totally be within his rights to go to the roof and declare that Ryan Ross was completely and utterly his and that he would kill anyone that tried to touch him without his express permission.

They were on William Beckett duty, Ryan was curled up in the chair with him, he’d insisted they wouldn’t fit, that he’d squash Bob, but Bob had managed to tug him in with him and silenced him with kisses.

He could totally get used to having Ryan relax into him, to feeling Ryan smiling against his skin.

He could also understand all the honeymoon jokes now; leaving Ryan alone and going off with the others was a complete impossibility and just wasn’t going to happen anytime in the near future.

It felt like their bond was brand spanking new all over again.

Thus he was there when William opened his eyes, he could tell it was getting ready to happen minutes before though because Ryan had stiffened and twisted his head so he was staring at the bed instead of resting it on Bob’s shoulder.

William sighed once and a tear escaped from one closed eye before they slowly opened.

He turned his head to look at Ryan and Bob could see the sadness lurking there, though it was diluted compared to what it had been.

There had been a great fear that William would find some way to follow his Constant even though he himself had no physical injuries.

“Hi William,” Ryan said softly. Bob thought he spoke out loud for Bob’s benefit, William didn’t say anything just stared at them for long minutes.

“Hi,” he said. His voice sounded dull and scratchy. He’d screamed himself hoarse just four days prior.

“We were attacked,” William said, Bob arched a brow because as far as he knew it was the first time that the first words out of William’s mouth hadn’t been about his Constant.

Mikey didn’t know her name, William always referred to her as ‘my Constant’ or ‘she’ or ‘my love’.

“You’re safe here,” Ryan said, William laughed bitterly.

Bob came out of the bedroom one morning; two weeks after William woke and didn’t ask after his Constant, to find Alex standing in the middle of the living room.

Bob stopped short because while Alex being up before everyone else wasn’t unusual, finding him standing in the middle of the living room staring at the wall with an expression of pleased confusion was.

“Morning Alex?” Bob said, he glanced back toward the bedroom door that he’d closed behind him because Ryan had been sprawled out on top of the covers naked.

He was glad that he’d pulled on sweatpants before he’d come out, he’d only come out to get water and maybe a piece of toast, but it could have been pretty incredibly awkward if he hadn’t.

Alex blinked twice then focused on Bob; the smile that was appearing was big enough that Bob thought it might engulf his entire face.

“I can feel Cash,” Alex ran a hand over his face, stared at his fingers. His voice was filled with wonder and not a small amount of glee. Satisfaction.

“I came out for water and some of the grapes that Ryan’s hiding behind the lettuce and… I can feel Cash.”

Alex could feel Cash in bits and spurts. His powers coming back and then going away, then coming back.

It was frustrating for him, he clung to Cash just that much more. Having finally seen what Ryan and the others must have seen.

Having seen that Cash was his.

If he could have he would have bound Cash to him, of that Bob was sure.

As it was he didn’t have a full grasp in his abilities yet. They sputtered in and out, and when they were there he didn’t really have them under his control.

Jon Walker appeared later that morning, and Alex flung himself at him. Arms tight around his neck.

“I’m almost back to normal now, you can stop beating yourself up at any time, Jon Walker,” Alex said sternly.

“I’m not beating myself up,” Jon said.

He wasn’t a Psychic and he could tell that Jon was lying. Bob didn’t snort but that was because Pete and Patrick and of all people Gabe did it for him.

“Yes you are,” Alex said, he squeezed Jon once more then went back to Cash’s side, folding himself up under Cash’s arm and beaming at everyone and no one. “But I told you it was going to be okay, and you and Gabe got us all here safely and it’s going to be okay. Eventually.”

Hi! *waves* I've been following this from the start (too shy to comment), and just wanted to say how brilliant this story is. And how much I adore everyone in it. And how happy I am that Bob and Ryan are fully happy now. Excellent job! :)

There is glee and glee and more glee.

I love it, love everything. Can't believe that there's only one more part then ficlets. So many things I want to know, so many.

Can't wait for the last bits.

This has been so amazing! I can't believe how awesome it is. I was very skeptic at the beginning (Bob/Ryan... what????) but I absolutely love them and love this and I don't want it to be over!

PS. If there be ficlets, might there be a Mickey/Brendon one? 'Cause I so desperately want to know how they got along after they find each other!

Can't wait for the last chapter! I want to know who Bob has to kill... *glee*
